Our Father's Day Garden Picnic

Fathers Day does seem to be the poor relation of Mothering Sunday doesn’t it? The poor Dad’s seem resigned to the fact that if they get a card they’ve been spoilt, despite their partner getting farmer attention few months ago. I must admit, this is the case in our household, but this year I wanted to make a fuss of Gareth and make him released just how appreciate he is. As on actual Fathers Day next Sunday, we are having a BBQ at my sister’s house, this weekend we had a little picnic in our garden where Sophie gave her daddy his card and pressie.

Garden picnics are the best - if you forget anything, you just need to pop into the house and grab it! Also you can bring candles and flowers to make it look special as well. Although we didn’t light it, for obvious reasons, the fragrance of The White Company Summer Candle still gave our al fresco dining a beautiful fragrance and I put all out goodies on I set up our my new Neptune Malham picnic blanket I picked up my local Weybridge store.

Now it was time for Sophie to present her homemade card - getting a big kiss from Daddy. Men are so hard to buy for, I agree, but who doesn’t love Jo Malone? I chose Grapefruit cologne as it is so fresh and perfect for Summer - also means that I can share it too, and aren’t those the best presents to give - or to get your children to give(!)

Then we started our lunch, I went for the classic stapes, a french baguette (Sophie’s current fave) section of cured meats and cheeses. Not fussy, no hours in the kitchen, but just perfect for our little celebration.

I hope you all have a lovely Father’s day and I can’t wait to spoil my Dad next weekend as well.
