My birthday night away at The Brooklands Hotel

What do mum's really want? A night out is generally my response! Team this with a lie in the next day and I'm one happy lady. For my birthday this slice of heaven was delivered with a night away at our very local 4* Brooklands Hotel. This way we minimised travel time and maximised the relaxation. Little Sophie went for a sleepover at the grands and we were treated to a night in the Noel Pope Suite. Like the rest of the hotel, it had beautiful and stylish design to reflect the motoring and aviation heritage of the site in a modern setting.

Although the room was beautiful, being such a lovely evening we sat on our roof terrace sipping a glass of bubbles looking out onto the Mercedes Benz World track opposite.

Another aspect of Brooklands hotel is the restaurant, I'd only been for a light lunch and afternoon tea previously and we were in for a real treat. My pal always faves about the 1907 restaurant and goes to celebrate special occasions and had hadn't held back on her praise, and the meal didn't disappoint. We totally split ourselves as all our favourites were on the menu, scallops, Chateaubriand and the most incredible peanut butter creme brûlée. We rolled back to our room very happy!

I don't know about you, but when I have a large meal I always seem to be hungrier in the morning than I usual am - stretching the stomach maybe! So we hit the brekkie buffet but storm, again going for multiple courses offers fruit, pastries and whilst Mr BMB opted for the full english, I tucked into smocked salmon and capers with oodles of coffee.

Our final treat was heading up to the BSpa where we were both treated to the Wine Makers Massage - using Caudalie products and techniques from winemaking. Feeling totally pampered and relaxed we allowed ourselves to chill out in the relaxation area before having a hot tub on the roof terrace. Bliss.

Cycling around at Soho Farmhouse

You may have see my blog post earlier this week on our mini break at Soho Farmhouse and I had way too many photos to share in one blog post so here is part two - the morning after the night before!

To blow the late night away a leisurely pre-brunch bike ride was in order. When you stay over the cutest bikes - with luggage labels with your names on (adorable!) are waiting for you outside your cabin or cottage to help you get around the site.

Although the weather was sunny, this was pre-heat wave and it was starting to feel a little autumnal. So I donned the cashmere! Ive been hearing everywhere that bottle green is the colour des jour, so my newest wardrobe member came for a spin.

This Boden beauty (Cashmere relaxed V-neck Jumper £139) is super soft and a perfect relaxed fit - ideal for lazy weekends. To make it a more trans-season piece, I teamed it with my cream river Island Amelie jeans (about a million years old - similar from Boden) and my fav KG Kurt Geiger Monty espadrille style wedge (£99) that I have been wearing daily recently.  After our little cycle, brunch was calling (with a Bloody Mary of course!).

What I love about Soho Farmhouse is that the food isn’t ridiculously expensive - the all you can eat brunch buffet is £12 and although I give it a good effort, Mr BMB defiantly gets his money’s worth! Then it was time for a quick dip in the beautiful heated outdoor pool before it was time to return to reality, and the toddler!

Soho Farm House - 30th birthday

The weekend saw in my pal's 30th and being a Soho House member, we headed off to our favourite of their members locations, Soho Farmhouse in beautiful Oxfordshire to host her celebrations. Opting for a Sunday stay, relaxed country casual was my dress code, so I turned to British darling Joules to kit me out for the day.

Although we are having a bit of an Indian Summer, Sunday was a little chilly when the clouds came over, so it was the first day I have donned boots since the spring. But oh, these boots! (Joules Westbourne boots) I spotted them in store a few weeks ago and knew I had to have them. The classic riding boots with the bronze back add a little twist, making them magical.

So to address the country chic, I teamed try beloved Topshop Joni jeans (which I only discovered this summer and I am in love! They have a super skinny fit, especially round the ankles - I can't stand a baggy ankle, and they are really high waited which is really flattering posts-baby) with this fun brightly checked Lucie shirt from Joules . Luckily it was thin enough fabric to ensure I didn't overheat when the sun came out. When it got a little colder, I donned my light Joules Merriton gilet. I love the high necked collar, which again makes it a little different and when summer does wave farewell I will appreciate the extra neck warmth. Oh and I kept my fave Triwia sunnies to hand at all times!

Love the little Joules Hare!

After a long lazy roast lunch we got settled in the cottage where our group where staying and after a visit from the cocktail van (which was pretty amazing) we settled in for the evening. Although we still managed to celebrate in style, Soho Farmhouse is much more subdued on a Sunday evening than the rest of the weekend where the party is very much in the 'member spaces'.

So we sat in deck chairs sipping cocktails as the sun went down on Meg's twenties enjoying the last of the British summer before we got a little more rowdy and the camera was put away!

The next day was much more chilled, which I'll be sharing some outfit pics with you in the next few days. I ant wait to plan my next trip to my favourite little Oxfordshire home from home!
