Max Factor takes on the Olympics

With the first of the Olympic athletes arriving over the UK border this week, the excitement has ramped up a gear, so I thought this would be a perfect time to share with you some Olympic beauty news.

Max Factor has unveiled the official make up look for the 2012 games, created by their brand ambassador and award winning makeup artist Caroline Barnes to be worn by the athlete's escorts during the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games Victory Ceremonies. Last week I was invited to London to watch Caroline applying the look to a model and have a go at recreating it myself, under her watchful eye!

The look is Sport Chic, taking inspiration from the official costumes created by the Royal College of Art students, Caroline has selected indulgent purple and gold hues to create a simple, modern beauty design.

Caroline says, “The eyes of the world will be on London this year and I’m so proud that my make-up design will be a part of something as big as the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. I wanted it to encompass everything the Games are about, so it represents wellbeing; it’s natural and fresh and will give each of the wearers a lovely healthy glow.”

If reaching the Olympic podium isn't on the cards for you this summer, you can have still join in the fun and recreate the look yourself. One of the most important elements of the design is a flawless and glowing base, Caroline didn't need much Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation (£9.99) to achieve this on our stunning model and I needed more than a little of the Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation (£12.99) to perfect my skin tone. Since the event, this little beauty is a firm favourite in my make up bag, but I prefer to use my finger tips to apply rather than the sponge that comes with the product.

The kit

Caroline then applied Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush(£6.99)on the cheek bones, rather than the apples of her cheeks which resulted in a sophisticated glow.

Caroline creating the look

For me the eye make up really stole the show, with Caroline expertly applying Max Colour Effect Trio Eye-shadow in Coco Crazy (£6.99) using the palest shade all over the lid, the medium brown in the eye sockets and the darkest shade to line the eye to create an almond shape, widening and beautifying. The other product I loved was the Max Colour Effect Lip Gloss in Romantic (£4.99) which was added just a hint of pink to the lips, smelling amazing without leaving any sticky residue.
The finished look
I really can't wait to see this beautiful make up on the TV in a few weeks!

Nails of the day: L'Oreal Color Riche Dating Coral

The sun may not be shining, the rain maybe pooring down and I may be constantly have a scarf around my neck, however, as far as my nails are concerned summer is here and the coral shades are calling me. I may have mentioned, once or twice how much I love a coral nail varnish, with my latest find being a current favourite.

L'Oreal's Color Riche nail polish in Dating Coral (305) is a perfect blend of pinks and orange without being too overpowering. The cute 5ml bottle also means your not paying for loads of polish that might not stay clump free until next summer.

The highly pigmented shade looks fine after one coat, but I popped two on for a flawless finish. The colour looks fab and enhances even the palest hint of a tan.

L'Oreal Color Riche nail varnish is £4.99/5ml and Boots are currently running a promotion on L'Oreal products, buy one and get the second half price - click here for details.

Oral B 3D White Launch Event

On Monday night I hopped on a train to London to attend the launch event of Oral-B's new 3D White toothpaste. As much as I love a good dental hygiene product, I must admit the main pull was to meet their new brand ambassador, the stunning Holly Willoughby.

As well as being generally super gorgeous, Holly also has some beautifully white nashers, which she keeps brilliant with Oral-B's 3d White. Holly says 'as a TV presenter, my smile is really important. To me great beauty starts with a great smile and Oral-B White is my must-have beauty product to achieve a beautiful, naturally whiter smile. It gave me visibly whiter teeth in just two weeks'

Dr Uchenna, Oral-B' Dental Guru was also present to explain the science behind the new paste. It has a three pronged attack on whitening teeth; the unique silica cleaning and polishing system lifts stains, whereas the pyrophosphate sticks to the teeth to prevent tartar build up and future colouring. Finally the floride technology helps strengthen, protect and repair the teeth.

Dr Uchenna also recommends going to our dentist for professional treatment to remove the deeper and more stubborn colouring. I've always been worried that this could damage the enamel, but she assured me that although there could be temporary sensitivity there will be no lasting damage.

To promote beautiful white teeth everything at the event was white too, yummy lychee cocktails and white chocolate mousse -yummy!

I have just started using the toothpaste and although I haven't seen a dramatic difference, being a non smoker my teeth aren't partially stained, but I'll keep you posted. Importantly it tastes like a normal toothpaste, so no weird flavourings to get used to, it is also reasonable priced with a rrp of £3.49.
