Max Factor has unveiled the official make up look for the 2012 games, created by their brand ambassador and award winning makeup artist Caroline Barnes to be worn by the athlete's escorts during the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games Victory Ceremonies. Last week I was invited to London to watch Caroline applying the look to a model and have a go at recreating it myself, under her watchful eye!
Caroline says, “The eyes of the world will be on London this year and I’m so proud that my make-up design will be a part of something as big as the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. I wanted it to encompass everything the Games are about, so it represents wellbeing; it’s natural and fresh and will give each of the wearers a lovely healthy glow.”
If reaching the Olympic podium isn't on the cards for you this summer, you can have still join in the fun and recreate the look yourself. One of the most important elements of the design is a flawless and glowing base, Caroline didn't need much Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation (£9.99) to achieve this on our stunning model and I needed more than a little of the Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation (£12.99) to perfect my skin tone. Since the event, this little beauty is a firm favourite in my make up bag, but I prefer to use my finger tips to apply rather than the sponge that comes with the product.
Caroline then applied Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush(£6.99)on the cheek bones, rather than the apples of her cheeks which resulted in a sophisticated glow.
For me the eye make up really stole the show, with Caroline expertly applying Max Colour Effect Trio Eye-shadow in Coco Crazy (£6.99) using the palest shade all over the lid, the medium brown in the eye sockets and the darkest shade to line the eye to create an almond shape, widening and beautifying. The other product I loved was the Max Colour Effect Lip Gloss in Romantic (£4.99) which was added just a hint of pink to the lips, smelling amazing without leaving any sticky residue.
The look is Sport Chic, taking inspiration from the official costumes created by the Royal College of Art students, Caroline has selected indulgent purple and gold hues to create a simple, modern beauty design.
