Next Baby Girl Clothing

With baby BMB's arrive getting ever closer, I've been starting to get her wardrobe prepped. There are so many gorgeous baby girl clothes in the shops, I've been trying to restrain myself.

Obviously at this stage I can't comment on the fit or wear of any items, just the cuteness - but I am loving what NEXT has on offer.

The baby grows in NEXT have so many little details and touches added to them - in this 3 pack (Three Pack Frill Floral Sleepsuits 0mths-2yrs £16-17) there are cute bum ruffles, little bows are pockets that that makes them even more special.

I'm not so keen on baby clothes that are covered with pictures and animals, but I made a massive exception for this cute denim outfit (Denim Bee Three Piece Dress Set 0-18mths £15). The large bee on the bum is just too cute, and I bet a crawling baby would look adorable with it poking out!

This rosebud legging and blouse combination (Rosebud Set 0-18mths £13) is more my style baby-wise, with the little details really thought through. I've teamed it with a rose bud cardi (Rosebud Cardigan 0-18mths £12) to complete the look and keep her cozy.

Little girls = summer dresses. NEXT have a really cute range to choose from for summer occasions and I love this drop waist blush dress (I can't find on-line but I have seen in store!) which I can't wait to put my little one in. For a cooler day, where long sleeves are required I love this cute butterfly dress with tulle skirt which would be lovely for a special occasion (Pink Butterfly Dress 0-18mths £12)

Beauty Buys Raise Money for Marie Curie

We all love a little splurge on a beauty buy, but until the 5th May you can feel guilt free with your purchase of a number of P&G beauty products from Superdrug. The collaboration means that each purchase will trigger a donation to Marie Curie - a charity which supports people living with terminal illness.

So get shopping and stock up on your beauty goodies whist raising money for a good cause - you can tell which products will trigger a donation by looking out for the Marie Curie daffodil stickers (above) on brands such as Max Factor, Olay, Gillette and Oral B to help raise £100,000.

Max Factor Spring Makeup

Max Factor Spring Makeup

For the spring Max Factor have released some super new products, Creme Puff Blush and Masterpiece Glamour Extension 3-in-1 Mascara. The Creme Puff Blush (£8.99 Boots) combines a flush of colour and slight shimmer, which is gorgeous on sunnier days, giving a hint of sun reflecting off the check bones - how excited am I about the warmer months ahead! The light formula means that the blush isn’t too scary, you build up to the colour you want rather than having to blend away clown cheeks. Of the six shades, Lovely Pink is a cute peachy pink, perfect for paler - just got out of winter skin, giving a just-been-back-from-a-walk glow, which I’m wearing in the photo below. Alluring Rose has more golden pigments so is better on darker skin tones, or to be saved until I have more warmth in my skin. Gorgeous Berries is more highly pigmented, so does give a good pop of colour which would work best on darker skin tones.

Masterpiece Mascara was launched a good few years back which I really liked as a go-to-daytime mascara. Glamour Extension 3-in-1 Mascara (£10.99 Superdrug) really has raised the game, giving much greater impact on length, volume and darkness. Which is down to the formula containing spherical particles which space out the lashes helping them to look fuller and heaps of carbon fibres to extend and blacken your lashes too. The delicate wand and is pretty nifty to reach all your little lashes, but gets enough of the product on so your not having to spend ages applying either.

JoJo Maman Bebe Maternity Shoot with Laura Beth Photography

Laura Beth Photography

How amazing has the weather been this week? Such a gorgeous start to my maternity leave and perfect for an outdoors maternity shoot with Laura Beth Photography and JoJo Maman Bebe in pieces I selected from their SS15 collection. We headed to the Kings Road in Chelsea to show off my ever-growing baby bump in some styles fitting of the sunshine.  Laura had scouted out the locations in advance, finding colourful mews houses and a white painted brick wall which were great backdrops.

In the summer I live in maxi skirts - I feel more glamorous sashaying down the street and they keep you much cooler than bear legs. I wasn't going to give this up during pregnancy, especially as comfort is such a priority. I love the Breton stripes on this skirt (Navy Breton Stripe Maxi Skirt £29) and the fabric is heavy enough to flow without being too warm. I've teamed it with a navy vest (Secret Support Maternity Verst £18), but you could opt for red to go even more nautical. To accessorise, I added my fav floppy sunhat and a long hanging split pendent necklace (Laura Cut Chain Semi Precious Lariat Necklace £15 Accessorize)

Being pregnant doesn't mean that you have to cover up your limbs. I love skater style dresses, usually waisted, but as this is currently impossible, this empire spotted skater dress (Navy Spot Skater Dress £39) is really fun for a warm spring day. With this cute spotty print, I added a bubble-gum-pink necklace (Block Colour Petal Necklace £12 Accessorize) I also love it in the floral print, which is perfect for spring.  I'm loving my flats at the moment and for a casual look I wore my SuperGa 2950 Cotu in Grey Vapor plimsoles (£40 SuperGa).

If you are going a bit more formal, this long sleeved dress (Patterned Maternity and Feeding Dress £35) is perfect for the office or Summer occasions. It also has secret feeding panels, so will be handy after your little one arrives too. I teamed it with a metal and glass bead delicate multi chain collar necklace. (Darcy Delicate Glass Statement Necklace Accessorise £17). Originally this was my least favourite of the outfits I chose, but after wearing it for a while it really grew on me.

I wouldn’t have considered having a maternity shoot unless photographer Laura had contacted me, as during pregnancy I haven’t felt my most attractive and certainly haven’t been taking any ‘bump’ pictures. However, I’m really glad I have documented this special time and Laura was amazing at making me feel relaxed and confident on the shoot and I was so impressed how quickly she edited all of the photos too! Laura Beth Photography also specialises in newborn shoots, so I'm going to have to persuade her to come and visit me with her camera in the next few weeks!

Aldi Drinks and Chocolate Pairings

Aldi Drinks and chocolate

Easter is THE time of year for chocolate. No doubt you still have some goodies left over from the weekend that you were too full to manage to squeeze in. With all the other Easter goodies on offer, I only dented the generous collection that the Easter bunny left for me. Aldi has suggested some drinks to accompany different chocolate, so you can indulge in an after dinner tipple with either some of your eggs, or if you have gobbled them all up, some of Aldi’s Moser Roth chocolate bars (£1.19 Aldi).

wine and chocolate

I'm a big milk chocolate fan and, my family and friends knowing me well resulted in the majority of my Easter eggs of this ilk. According to Aldi, the best drink to go with milk choc is a wine of similar sweetness levels, such as their Exquisite Collection Australian Shiraz (£5.99 Aldi). If dark chocolate is more your bag, Aldi suggest you match this strong flavour with a full-bodied fortified wine such as Fletcher’s Fine Ruby Port (£6.49 Aldi). Being Neither a dark choice or port fan, this combination probably isn’t for me though!

port and chocolate

Caramel chocolate, however, really floats my boat. Mr BMB got a caramel egg for easter that I’ve been eye-ing up and according to Aldi, this would be best parked with a cheeky sip of Tamova Vodka (£10.39). The memories of toffee vodka in my uni days is brought to my mind, which at the time I loved, but to check this out (and the other combis) I will have to wait until baby BMB arrives in the next few weeks.

Mini Egg Mani

This week I was challenged by Cadburys to make a mini egg themed mani. Although I appreciate other people’s nail art, its not something I usually go for. However, I am a MASSIVE mini egg fan, so thought why not.

The cute mini egg colours were all by Barry M the white: Gelly Hi-Shine in Cotton yellow: Speedy in Stop The Clock, pink: Speedy in Kiss Me Quick and purple: Speedy in Lap of Honour.

I then used the Barry M Spotting tool to add my brown spots using Barry M Matt Nail Pain in Mocha.

I’m no nail pro, obviously, but I think they look god enough to eat!

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue

In the winter I'm all about full coverage foundations, but as spring and summer loom, I like to scale it down a notch. bareMinerals are launching their Complexion Rescue (£26 Debenhams) this month which is a tinted hydrating gel cream to hydrate the skin, whilst giving sheer coverage.

Oil and fragrance free, its all about packing moisture into the skin, with studies showing a 215% increase in skin hydration after using the product for a week.

Being plus 30, I'm fining it a little too sheer for early spring, so have been mixing in some foundation with medium coverage to beef it up. But I can see myself living in this during the high summer.

Available in 10 different shades, Natural (05) was selected for me which is one shade darker than my current skin tone as I was thinking about my sun kissed skin in a few moths time.
